Finally, A Nice Debugger For Flash

Well, I'm a little late to the party on this one. But this morning I finally tried out the Xray debugger for Flash. Finally, my prayers have been answered. This thing rocks.

Setup was not completely simple. Took about 2 hours. Fortunately, there are a lot of great tutorials on the Xray site. I especially recommend watching the videos.

I tried using the Windows standalone version, but switched to the Flex 2 version, which is resizeable. You need Flash Player 9 installed to run it.

Perhaps the coolest feature is that you can change any variable in your Flash movie live. You can adjust coordinates, widths, heights, etc. to try things out with your movie without republishing the FLA. You can run Xray remotely, so the movie doesn't even have to be hosted on your local machine.

This was probably the last major piece of the Open Source Flash puzzle. Now it's ready for just about any commercial project.
